In our quest to find the UK’s best buy saucepans, we’ve surveyed over one thousand six hundred and fifty users. Our compare saucepans table is based on nine hundred and eighty-nine owners of the top ten most highly rated pots & pan sets.

Saucepan Comparison Tables

Here you can see at-a-glance the top 10 saucepans for 2013. The essential need they fulfil is consistent cooking results. It’s that rather than design that users’ rate most highly after 6 weeks use.

Plus a pot and handle combination that’s well balanced (doesn’t tip over!) and not too heavy to move easily and safely (think of a pan full of potatoes and boiling water). Oh yes, and a design that stacks well.

Top of the pile, based on overall user rating is the Judge Vista classic stainless steel (User rating 9.64/10). A Judge Vista saucepan has got the lot: – It’s well balanced. The pot has a lip so you can easily pour or strain. The lids are of toughened glass with a vent hole; that allows you to see into the pot and delivers simmering without mess.

In our compare saucepans tables, the best buy pans are the 5 piece Circulon Infinite set by Meyer (user rating 9.37/10). Made from anodised aluminium for durability, these pots and pans are well-balanced, heat consistently and cook quickly. They are also non-stick, dish washer safe and stack well. They are also oven-proof - you can pop the pot in the oven to brown food.

Plus you can easily get additional items from the Circulon range.

Using Our Compare Saucepans Table 2013 UK

Overall Users Satisfaction Rating
The key question we asked in our user survey was this: “You’ve been using your cookware now for six or more weeks.

Given your experience to date, how would you rate your pots & pans overall on a scale of 1 (low) to 10 (high)? Think about ease of use, consistent cooking results, durability and value for money”.

We then took all these ratings for a given saucepan model and found an Overall Users Satisfaction Rating per model.

Your best buy saucepans will have a score of 9 or more.

Pots & pans in the set
Other range items available
A 3 piece set will contain a small, medium and large saucepan plus lids. A five or six piece set contains one or more frying pans. Large pots are around 20cms in diameter with a capacity of around 2.5 litres.

Construction Material
Saucepans are made from aluminium, hardened or anodised aluminium or stainless steel.

Base material
This is important if you are using an induction hob. Aluminium and general purpose stainless steel aren’t magnetic. To work on an induction hob you want a flat base incorporating steel (which is magnetic).

Lids
Most of the cookware here has tempered glass lids. That’s hardened glass (usually with a vent hole) held in a stainless steel rim frame. The vent hole means you can see into the pot and it is less likely to boil over.

A few models have all steel lids without vent holes. But these are easy to balance slightly ajar to vent steam.

Handles & knobs
Pot handles get warm but not as hot as lid knobs or handles.

A common user gripe is that lid knobs get too hot to handle with bear hands. Some models have phenolic handles or stainless steel with silicone inserts. That means they are made from a heat resistant plastic.

But they still get hot and cooking also produces scalding steam. Always lift pan lids warily while wearing an oven glove.

Are these Saucepans Compatible with your Hob?

No saucepan comparison would be complete without this vital bit of information.

Gas, electric, radiant & halogen hobs
All the pans compared here are compatible with these cooking fuels.

Induction hob compatible
You need pans with a flat base that incorporates magnetic steel.

Ceramic hob compatible
Some ceramic hobs incorporate induction rings – see above.

Solid hob compatible
A solid or raised hob cooker e.g. Aga, requires a pot with a flat base. It doesn’t matter about the metal used to construct the pot.

Non-stick coating
This can be handy for liquids like milk, egg, sauces or gravy. Makes cleaning the pots and pans easier too.

Oven safe
Oven safe lids
Oven safe means you can put the saucepan body in the oven, e.g. to brown foods.

Some pots have phenolic or heat-resistant handles. That means they won’t melt. They will get HOT. Use oven gloves.

Some pan sets also have oven safe lids.

Dishwasher safe
Some pots and pans can go in a dishwasher without tarnishing.

At Best Buys for you we were determined to find out which saucepans are best – for any hob. These pots and pans comparison tables are the result of our quest.

We hope these tables are helpful to you. Thank you for using our UK 2013 compare saucepans resource.
